About Me

Russell Rice: After completing his degree at Portsmouth, Russell gained two years of Part 1 experience, working for The Architects Design Group in Plymouth. Primarily designing medium to large scale housing schemes in the South West, Russell undertook responsibilities such as meetings with clients, planners and public consultations, and became well-versed in sustainable design legislation, including Code for Sustainable Homes. Russell has also worked for Stephen Whettem Architects, in Tavistock, where he took on some interesting regeneration projects, including designing an artist's studio and home within a grade 2* listed Methodist Chapel on Dartmoor. Russell's education and practical experience has led him to a belief that environmentally sustainable design can be implemented in a way that embraces the vernacular while embodying modern techniques and lifestyles. This year Russell is working on his thesis project in the district of Es Jonquet, Palma de Mallorca and intends to engage with the principles of courtyard typologies and social sustainability within a unique cultural and climatic context.
